Sirana
Okay, considering the Fediverse is geek central:

I cannot avoid switching to Windows 11 indefinitely but I feel super uneasy, because something always breaks or starts having compatibility issues. When switching from Win 7 to Win 10 I used the opportunity to build a new computer because the hardware was outdated, but my current hardware is still sufficient for what I am doing and I don't have the money to build a new one from scratch anyway.

So I was thinking if it might be possible to get a new hard drive and install windows 11 on that one, so I can get 11 but also leave all my old stuff alone. (I have two hard drives already, one for C:\ and one for all sorts of personal data and stuff, but some things wanted to be installed on C:\, so games and programs and stuff are split between the two. Also many savegames and things are stored on C:\.)

However, I am sure this sounds a lot easier in my head than it actually is? Not the installation but the general use. I suppose I can't just run a game installed on win 10 when I booted the PC with win 11 and vice versa? I'd have to reboot the computer and switch OS depending on what I want to do, inevitably limiting myself in regards of what I want to do at the same time?

(Please no "switch to linux" debates in the comments. No, I will not switch to linux. I know Microsoft is the devil, but it's the devil everyone and their neighbour works with and I don't want to look for workarounds and invest time into troubleshooting for every little non-mainstream thing. No, I don't care "how easy it is" for you. I am not you.)

#Windows #Win11 #FediHelp #MastoHelp #Win10
